Katraj to Sinhagad Night Trek

One of the most popular treks in the Sahyadri's and specially amongst the Punekar's is the Katraj Sinhagad Moonlight Trek. This trek starts from the hill above the old Katraj tunnel and an approximatately 20kms of walking in the terrain consisting of around 14 hills takes you to Sinhagad.

I was eying this trek for quite some time. Got a chance to fulfill my desire last saturday on a 'Super-Moon' night. We started at 23:30 form the old tunnel and it took us 8hrs of continous walking to complete the trek. Though tiresome the trek was a wonderful experience. The splendid views of Pune city from top and the amazing company of the fellow trekkers was icing on the cake.

Enjoy the photos.

Bibi ka Maqbara

Known as the poor man's Taj the Bibi-ka Maqbara in Aurangabad city is a 17th century mausoleum build by Mughal Prince Azam Shah in memory of his mother Rabia Durrani ( Aurangzeb's first wife).

Due to lack of funds and poor quality of its architecture, the Bibi ka Maqbara- initially build to rival the original Taj at Agra could manage to be a mere poor copy.

Neverthless its an interesting monument to visit for its association to the (in)famous Mughal King Aurangzeb.
